THE HARVARD-YX RACIAL JUSTICE & TECHNOLOGY SUMMER FELLOWSHIP

August 3rd-August 14th, 2020

The weekend prior to the start of the Racial Justice & Technology Summer Fellowship organized by Harvard College student Nikhil Dharmaraj and scheduled to start this coming Monday (co-sponsored by the Black Students Association), an internal Harvard Technology Review (HTR) board conflict arose. Some morally objectionable Zionist concerns were raised by a board member and a petition was created for HTR to adopt a firmly anti-Zionist stance that garnered over 25 signatures of support from organizations at Harvard and beyond (including the Black Students Association, the Association of Black Harvard Women, Harvard Queer Students & Allies, South Asian Women's Collective, Black Lives Matter - Los Angeles, and more). You can find the petition here.

Due to HTR’s face-value acceptance of the demands outlined in the petition and concerning language in their response letter, the organizer of the fellowship, decided to disaffiliate from HTR and hold the fellowship with the YX-Foundation, Harvard Black Students Association, and Harvard College PSC. You can find the disaffiliation statement here.
